Just three kilometres from Young along Murringo Road, planted to a brisk 500 metres above sea level, Grove Estate was originally sown to vines in 1886, by Croatian settlers who brought cuttings from their farms on the Dalmatian coast. An accomplished herdsman and shearer, Balnaves took up the challenge of planting vineyards in 1971. A multi award winning Single Malt Whisky, hand crafted at Speyside's smallest working distillery. Initially matured in a mix of Bourbon and Sherry casks, the whisky is transferred to a selection of European oak Oloroso casks for a final term of maturation. Established 1898, Benromach distillery experienced many closures and changes of ownership prior to 1993, when Malt Whisky specialists Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. After an extensive refurbishment, Benromach was officially re opened by the Prince of Wales in 1998. Just two experienced distillers create Benromach, employing the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from nearby Romach Hills. These devoted distillers personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being treated to an extended maturation.
