William James Maxwell was an architectural sculptor who migrated from Scotland to Australia in 1875. When Dr. Johann Siegert's (surgeon general to Simon Bolivar's liberation army) surviving family moved from Venezuala to Trinidad, they'd already had some experience in making Rum, producing the signature Siegert's Bouguet Rum, infused with Angostura bitters.
