Established 1908, Redman's Coonawarra are still made by the Redman brothers from fruit grown to the original family parcels. The tradition began 1901 when Bill Redman, at the tender age of fourteen, made the journey to take up an apprenticeship at the John Riddoch wineworks and to labour amongst Coonawarra's founding vineyards. Bill Redman's earliest vintages were sold off to other companies but it was not until 1952 that the Redman family released their own wines under the moniker Rouge Homme. Redman was finally branded under its own label in 1966, it remains one of the most enduring marques in Coonawarra. Hurtle Walker first picked grapes as a ten year old on the celebrious Magill property in 1900. Apprenticed to the legenderies Monsieur Duray and Leon Mazure, Walker was placed in charge of sparkling wine production for the historic Auldana Cellars at the ripe old age of 21. Domaine Olivier Leflaive retain vineyards in the famous Cote d'Or appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Premiere Cru Meursault and Premiere Cru Chassagne-Montrachet. Les Setilles is a dependable staple of the estate portfolio, vinified with parcels appropriated from loyal suppliers and vignerons in Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Olivier Leflaive enjoy a close relationship with some of the finest growers along the Cote d'Or. People who love managing vines just as much as they enjoy the wine which is the fruit of their work. The calcareous clay soil vineyards face southeast to south and lie on a flat, even terrain. Each recolte is hand crafted into a cuvee of elegance and finesse reflecting the virtue of Cote d'Or.
Pale yellow gold colour. A tantalising combination of fresh citrus and apple notes, enriched with vanilla and hints of warm brioche, a lovely wine, finishing long, clean and satisfying.
