Lured to Australia by Alfred Deakin in 1887, the Chaffey Brothers were American irrigation engineers who took up a challenge to develop the dust bowls ofRenmark and Mildura into fruit growing wonderlands. They left our nation an extraordinary legacy and their progeny continue to make good wine. Several generations later, the Chaffey Bros are focused on the fruit of some grand old Barossa and Eden Valley sites. Chosen harvests of extraordinary grapes are the ticket for admission into the exclusive club of Chaffey vineyards. Shiraz is made in several different styles and there's a penchant for obscure white varietals in the Mosel River way. They make wine according to the art of the Parfumier, nothing is.. Three British Army officers, in their capacity as agents of the East India Company, established one of Western Australia's first agricultural enterprises in 1836. Named after Captain Richmond Houghton, it was not until Thomas Yule's stewardship that vines were planted and the first vintage of Houghton wine flowed in 1859. Thomas Yule now sources fruit from the eminent Justin Vineyard in Frankland River, a dark ruby Shiraz of lifted liquorice and intense brambleberry, seasoned by piquant pepper notes and supported by showroom tannins. The very elite of Frankland River Shiraz... Artisanal wines of distinguished sites»
Kalleske are one of our nation's most distinguished winegrower families, Barossa through and through, heirs to the tradition of Prussian pastoralists who established South Australia as one of the world's great viticultural precincts. The family Kalleske were the quiet achievers behind the stellar quality of fruit, at the heart of the most memorable vintages Penfolds Grange. Old sites and ancient vines, a tally of which have been branded under the Atze's Corner label, a regal range of stately Barossa wines, irresistibly underpriced in terms of provenance, excellence and sheer delight. Spectacular bouquets, redolent of freshness, fragrance and fruit, astonishingly balanced to perfection, meaty, mouth.. Small batches of the barossa's very best»
Dr Frederick Kiel would take the trek by paddle steamer from Melbourne every summer during the late 1800s to spend his summers at Sorrento. His children established a grazing station nearby, on a property acquired from the Baillieu family along Portsea Ocean Beach, ultimately planted to vineyards in 2000. These are the most extreme western longitudes of Mornington, the undulating paddocks and sweeping views of tempestuous Bass Strait are a magical place for growing Burgundesque styles of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, well protected north facing parcels of propitious free draining limestone and calcareous sands. The windswept maritime vineyards of little Portsea Estate yield the quality of Mornington that.. Mornington's westernmost vineyards»

Antinori Solaia Toscana IGT 1.5L MAGNUM CONFIRM VINTAGE

Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Sangiovese Chianti Classico Italy
Solaia is a southwest facing vineyard of approximately ten hectares at 350 to 400 metres above sea level, planted to rocky limestone soils at the illustrious Tignanello property. Inaugurally released from the 1978 vintage, Solaia is only ever made in the most excellent years, always an unforgettable encounter of stylishness and peerless elegance.
Grapes are all hand picked and vinified on skins as separate varietals, treated to a course of pumpovers and délestage throughout the ferments. Upon completion, components are rested for a term of extended macerations, three weeks for Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, a fortnight for Sangiovese. Batches are devatted and transferred to a selection of completely new French oak barriques for spontaneous malolactic. Components are assembled and matured for eighteen months, periodically racked, barrique by barrique, followed by a further year's bottle ageing before release.
Intense ruby red colour. Aromas of ripe berry spice, black pepper, chocolates, coffee and vanilla. Generous, vibrant and balanced palate, supported by a length of sweet, mouthfilling tannins, forward mineral notes, its charming nature and weight of fruit is superbly enhanced by the complexity and finesse.
