Established 1851 by the French Marist order, Mission Estate are New Zealand's oldest winery, under continuous management ever since. The city of Lyon's Society of Mary sailed to New Zealand with little more than faith, fair winds and a few healthy vines. Men of Burgundy, they knew from good wine, they chose their ground and planted rootstock near Ngaruroro River between Napier and Hastings at Pakowhai. Agriculture and livestock were a necessity, but the establishment of a productive vineyard was essential. The area is now known as Hawke's Bay, internationally renowned for the rich terroirs of Gimblett Gravels, home of New Zealand's most salient brands... The burgundy tradition of te ika a maui»
Originally formulated by John Charles Brown OBE in 1954 and crafted to this very day in the exact same manner, Brown Brothers flagship icon endures as one of the nation's most distinguished single vineyard wines. Mondeuse plantings were brought to Australia in the early 1900s by the legendary Francois de Castella of St Hubert fame, they have remained the most precious parcel of Brown Brothers heirloom vines since the 1920s. At Milawa, Mondeuse translates into an inky, deeply tannic wine, it forms synergies with the sweet fruit plumpness of Shiraz and statuesque elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon to coalesce into a rich, opulent style of eloquence and structure... Constructed during early settlement by a supervisor of colonial convicts, at the very epicentre of the market gardens which serviced Hobart, Clarence House is a heritage listed manor which remains largely unaltered since the 1830s. It passed through several hands before being acquired by the Kilpatricks in 1993, who answered the call of Bacchus and established the grounds to vine. There are now sixteen hectares of viticulture, several significant Burgundy clones of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with smaller plantings of Sauvignon and Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet and Tempranillo. What's most unique about the Clarence House vineyards are the soils and topography, a number of northeast slopes which catch the.. Heirlooms of a hobart homestead»
Established just eleven years after the founding of South Australia, the ancient vines in the Hundred Of Moorooroo were planted circa 1836 by the Jacob brothers, after accompanying Colonel William Light on the Seven Special Surveys expedition to populate Adelaide's north. Moorooroo endures as the nation's cardinal parcel of vine, the mother rootstock for many of the Barossa's most distinguished sites. For over a century, these sacred vines contributed fruit to the Orlando company, where they formed the backbone of countless spectacular historical vintages. Decimated by the government sponsored vine pull schemes of the 1980s, only four rows of these priceless vines were saved by master Ed Schild from.. The fruit of vines established 1836»

Ramos Pinto's Quinta de Ervamoira parcels are located at the heart of Douro winegrowing region, planted to schist soils at very low altitudes, within a hot and dry mesoclime that's ideal for the torrid Spanish varietals. At a slightly higher altitude, planted to more granitic soils are the Quinta dos Bons Ares vines, where grapes can slowly ripen and concentrate their flavours, under the influence of fresh prevailing winds which contribute great vitality and intensity to the fruit. Duas Quintas is an assemblage of components from slightly differing terroirs and microclimates, careful assemblage of all parts is central to achieving a compex, fruit driven yet masculine red wine.
Dark ruby red colour. Bouquets are floral and exciting, intense and fruity, strawberries and blackberry with hints of toasty vanilla. Rich and concentrated palate showing plum, leather and spice, with intense coffee/ espresso notes. A delicious, spiced an savoury red wine with solid fruit character, the finish is decidedly tannic, velvety and long. Breathing before service unlocks wonderful expressions.
