One of our nation's enduring winemaking dynasties, the Hamiltons planted vines just outside Adelaide in 1837. Great grandson Sydney Hamilton was a legendary and innovative viticulturalist, he ultimately made his own oenological conversion to the sacred Terra Rosa soils of Coonawarra in 1974, establishing one of Australia's most distinguished vineyards on a highly auspicious site, naming the property after forebear Lord Leconfield. An exceptional value for Cabernet of its class, presaged by a vigorously perfumed berry punnet nose, syrup textured, stately and refined, Leconfield makes a compelling.. Constructed during early settlement by a supervisor of colonial convicts, at the very epicentre of the market gardens which serviced Hobart, Clarence House is a heritage listed manor which remains largely unaltered since the 1830s. It passed through several hands before being acquired by the Kilpatricks in 1993, who answered the call of Bacchus and established the grounds to vine. There are now sixteen hectares of viticulture, several significant Burgundy clones of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with smaller plantings of Sauvignon and Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet and Tempranillo. What's most unique about the Clarence House vineyards are the soils and topography, a number of northeast slopes which catch the.. Heirlooms of a hobart homestead»

The structure, style and superb quality of Warre's Ports are defined by its vineyards. The mainstay of Warre's Ports is provided by three great estates, Quinta da Cavadinha, Quinta do Retiro Antigo and Quinta da Telhada. The latter was acquired by Warre's in 2006 and this riverside property now makes a significant contribution. Further to these, Warre's are able to draw on the production of a collection of other sites with long associations. Quinta do Retiro Antigo is one of the finest vineyards in Rio Torto. A historical landmark with spectacular 18th century stone terraces, most of which grow just one row. These ancient vines produce superb grapes that perfectly complement fruit from Cavadinha.
Inky and concentrated, an opaque colour given by the famous old vines of Retiro Antigo. This concentration combines perfectly with the freshness imparted by wines from the higher lying Cavadinha vineyards to produce lovely fresh flavours of blackberry fruit. A wine of enormous elegance, combining vibrant lifted fruit with power and long lasting flavours. Vintage 2007 is much enhanced by the exuberance of Telhada Touriga Franca grapes.
