Just a few kilometres north of Lowburn, near the windswept shores of frigid Lake Dunstan, atop the parched and laborious terroirs of Central Otago, a high country merino stud between the Amisfield and Parkburn streams was sown to vineyards two decades ago. Grazing country makes magnificent viticulture, the austere alluvial and glacial schist soils now yield the quality of Pinot Noir which has defined Central Otago as the world's most demonstrable marque in full bodied, intensely complex, yet beguilingly seamless Pinot Noir. The challenging terraces which spiral around the fractious knolls of Amisfield Vineyard, sire a sensational range of wines defined by their affable excellence, sound structure and.. Lured to Australia by Alfred Deakin in 1887, the Chaffey Brothers were American irrigation engineers who took up a challenge to develop the dust bowls ofRenmark and Mildura into fruit growing wonderlands. They left our nation an extraordinary legacy and their progeny continue to make good wine. Several generations later, the Chaffey Bros are focused on the fruit of some grand old Barossa and Eden Valley sites. Chosen harvests of extraordinary grapes are the ticket for admission into the exclusive club of Chaffey vineyards. Shiraz is made in several different styles and there's a penchant for obscure white varietals in the Mosel River way. They make wine according to the art of the Parfumier, nothing is.. There are four tiny patches of vine at Scotchman's Hill, which have been mollycoddled by Robin Brockett, since the start of his tenure as chief winemaker in the 1980s. Excruciatingly limited after a strict pruning and rigorous sorting of fruit, they each yield a mere hundred cases of wine. Brockett has set aside the precious harvests of these superior blocks for his own label, a personal project to hand craft the finest of vintage, an exclusive range of the Bellarine's most elite single vineyard efforts. So besotted is Brockett by the spectacular quality of fruit from these four regal parcels, he has imported two 800 Litre Tuscan vinification Amphora from the Brunello commune of Montalcino. Whole bunches.. Brockett begets the best of bellarine»

A combination of great soils and the exposure of vines permits a diversity with which to produce complex wines that are well balanced and express the individuality of terroir and clime. The Poggiotondo winemaking facility itself is a simple structure. Sangiovese and Merlot are harvested and vinified separately. After destemming and crushing, the must is pressed into vats for fermentation to indigenous yeast at 28C. Following ten days maceration on skins and completion of malolactic, the wines are treated to twelve months maturation in a selection of well seasoned French oak barriques. The toasting of barrels is always given close consideration to avoid interfering with the primary, aromatic character of the wine.
Deep scarlet red. Notes of iris flower, red and black cherries, elegant black and red fruits are complexed by hints of spice. Warm on the palate, round with the presence of slealthy, deep tannins, pretty floral notes add a sense of lift, all complimented by a lingering, long lasting finish. A sleek, racy wine with impeccable balance throughout.
