Legendary Penfold winemaker John Duval began his apprenticeship in 1974 under the tutelage of the late great Max Schubert. Duval's family had been supplying Penfolds with fruit and root stock for generations, many of South Australia's most prestigious vineyards were sown with cuttings from Duval's family property. Currency Creek
The family owned and operated Currency Creek estate is situated 80kms south of Adelaide in the Currency Creek winegrowing region adjacent to Southern Ocean and Lake Alexandrina

The Currency Creek region is maritime in character and produces long dry summers where the mean growing rainfall is less than 6 inches (155mm) and the mean January temperature is 65°F (18.5°C). These conditions, matched with the ancient coastal soils, create the ideal conditions for prolonged ripening and consistent grape yields producing wines with outstanding varietal definition and lift.

Currency Creek are dedicated to creating an authentic Australian experience in estate grown and single vineyard wines. Currency Creek are fully fruit driven in style and consistently over deliver in terms of quality and price. There are 20 hectares of native flowers grown on the property, among them are leucadendron, leucospermum and banksia.
