Johann Gottfried Scholz served in the Prussian army as a battlefield bonesetter, before joining the great emigration of Lutherans from Silesia to Barossa Valley. After building a family homestead along the alluvial banks of Para River, Gottfried established a mixed farm of livestock and crops, fruit trees and grapevines, Semillon and Shiraz. His acumen at healing fractures and setting splints made Gottfried a leading local identity, as his homestead cottage evolved into the Barossa's very first private hospital. Over a century later, the exceptional quality of harvest from Gottfried's original homestead, made the fruit of Willows Vineyard, an essential component in the most memorable vintages of Peter.. Kalleske are one of our nation's most distinguished winegrower families, Barossa through and through, heirs to the tradition of Prussian pastoralists who established South Australia as one of the world's great viticultural precincts. The family Kalleske were the quiet achievers behind the stellar quality of fruit, at the heart of the most memorable vintages Penfolds Grange. Old sites and ancient vines, a tally of which have been branded under the Atze's Corner label, a regal range of stately Barossa wines, irresistibly underpriced in terms of provenance, excellence and sheer delight. Spectacular bouquets, redolent of freshness, fragrance and fruit, astonishingly balanced to perfection, meaty, mouth.. Small batches of the barossa's very best»
Old Richmond Gaol was one of Diemen Land's first prisons, built by the convicts themselves, of good old fashioned granite blocks, laboriously hauled in wooden hand carts and quarried from the ominously monikered Butchers Hill. Today, Butchers Hill is the site of the steepest sloping vineyard in Coal River Valley, invigorated by afternoon sea breezes and prevailing winds from the roaring forties, its highly auspicious, self mulching black Vertosols, yield extraordinary wines. Established by founding members of the Hobart Beefsteak & Burgundy Club, Butchers Hill represents three generations of passion amongst the nether vineyards of the Apple Isle. Not just a purveyor of pretty Pinot Noir, Pooley Estate.. Princely parcels of pooley»
Gary and Nick Farr are father and son, they make wine together but aren't afraid to go head to head when their opinions differ. Nick grew up amongst some of the world's most sacred vineyards, he knows about the land and found a magnificent little site, barely east of Lake Colac. Irrewarra is the vigneron's shangri-la, prepared for viticulture by generations of grazing and eons of the sobering south sea breezes, which stimulate vines to yield meagre harvests of parched little grapes, sleek of tannin and rich in flavour. Vintaged in excruciatingly limited lots, there are fully two styles of Irrewarra on offer, a grapefruit and oyster shell Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir of pasture and of place, both finished to.. Bekkers
The Bekkers story is born of a rare connection with nature, as articulated by a world of experience

One of McLaren Vale’s oldest and distinguished wineries was the setting for a chance meeting between a young French winemaker and newly graduated Australian viticulturist. Emmanuelle and Toby Bekkers have lived, worked and raised a family amongst the vineyards of McLaren Vale. For over 25 years, Emmanuelle and Toby have travelled regularly to Europe to visit an extensive network of esteemed wine makers and industry friends. After each trip they return with new inspirations and an appreciation of the traditional, timeless methods. This serves to enhance a rare and special commitment to producing McLaren Vale wines of the highest quality.

Bekkers

Emmanuelle and Toby Bekkers have been fortunate to encounter some of the best wines in the world but nothing has diminished their conviction that McLaren Vale delivers the world's finest wines. The Bekkers aim to be a benchmark of the finest McLaren Vale has to offer. Bekkers wines are gently crafted in tiny quantities, with an accent on finesse and fine texture. They strive to inspire confidence and push the limits of what’s possible for McLaren Vale and for all Australian wine. McLaren Vale dominates the artwork on the label, in deference of great wines from an exceptional provenance.

Topping the list of an elite handful of Australia’s premier restaurants and fine wine merchants, the majority of their production is reserved for an exclusive allocation list. Bekkers wines are loved by devotees world wide, many of whom have become lifelong friends.

Toby and Emmanuelle Bekkers share an appreciation for craftsmanship infused with the efforts and soul of the maker. As a small family winery, they aspire to stand proud amid the world’s most coveted estates. This is a story of special wine, from the sacred soil to the very soul.

The winemaking begins with an exceptional attention to detail in the vineyard. It is a showcase for Toby’s viticultural abilities and a philosophy of farming which views the vineyard through a prism of ecology, not chemistry. This philosophy extends equally to the cellar where Emmanuelle’s precision is the perfect foil to Toby’s creative, open minded approach to winemaking. Patience and gentle winemaking practices bring to life wines that possess the generosity for which McLaren Vale is renowned, the refined textures, opulent palates and mesmerising bouquets. The Bekkers intend their wines to partner alongside good food and to be shared with fine company. Most importantly, to be a part of the most wonderful times in our lives.
