The Australian winemaking industry is grateful to Leontine O'Shea, instrumental in the establishment of Mount Pleasant wines, she sent her son Maurice to France for an education in viticulture right at the outbreak of World War I, gifting him his first Hunter Valley vineyard in 1921. Mount Pleasant are now custodians of some grand old sites, a canon of small, elite blocks of vine that yield a precious range of icon wines, which represent peerless value and readily disappear before release of the following vintage... At latitude 45 degrees south, Central Otago is the southernmost wine region in the world. Snow topped mountains, rocky ranges and dry tussock hills, a place of climatic extremes, bitterly cold winters, parched soils and discouragingly poor fertility. Designed by the angels in heaven for sublime and stupendous vintages of Pinot Noir. At the very epicentre of the most desirable confluence in Central Otago microclimes is Nanny Goat Vineyard. Conspicuous for her serious weight of fruit, splendid structure and chewy, textural palate, Nanny Goat make a magnificently endowed style, offering the understated power and presence to accompany gourmet game sausages, meaty Mediterranean braises or char grilled rib... Samuel Smith migrated from Dorset England to Angaston in the colony of South Australia circa 1847, he took up work as a gardener with George Fife Angas, the virtual founder of the colony. In 1849, Smith bought thirty acres and planted vines by moonlight, the first ever vintages of Yalumba. One of his most enduring legacies were some unique clones of Shiraz, which were ultimately sown to the illustrious Mount Edelstone vineyard in 1912. Angas's great grandchild Ron Angas acquired cuttings from the Edelstone site and migrated the precious plantings to his pastures at Hutton Vale. The land remains in family hands, a graze for flocks of some highly fortunate lamb. In between the paddocks, blocks of Sam.. The return of rootstock to garden of eden»

Les Vignobles providing fruit for the vinification of Belleruche are spread out across several appellations along the Cotes du Rhône, Drôme and Vaucluse, Gard and Ardeche. Vines are planted on slightly varied soils, alluvial clays, sand and limestones, a patchwork which contributes extraordinary richness and complexity to the final wine. Grapes are all hand harvested at full maturity, destemmed and macerated over a period of fifteen days, extracting tannins and developing good structure which permits the ageing and guarantees stability of the wine. Following inoculation and vinification in a selection of traditional fermenters, Belleruche is aged in large oak vats and assembled in the spring.
Garnet red colour. Red fruit aromas, morello cherries and red liquorice, milled pepper, bay leaf and spice. The palate exhibits great structure, layered with crisp red currant and bramble fruit flavours, olives and applejack, before resolving on an engagingly aromtic finish, over a length of firm, sustained and silky tannins.
