Glera Valdobbiadene Italy
From the prestigious Valdobbiadene district in the Alpines of Veneto, Marca Oro is the jewel in the Vlado Prosecco crown. The excellence of Valdo stems from the care taken at every stage of the winemaking process, perfect ripening of grapes whilst on the vine, closely managed ferments, bottling and elevage. The Valdo estate cellars are not just a place to age the estate's superlative wines, they are a place of inspiration where passion and innovation, technology and tradition combine to produce Prosecco of extraordinary quality and singular provenence.
The Valdo headquarters are well placed at the heart of Valdobbiadene which is itself right in the middle of Prosecco D.O.C. From vineyards with a breathtaking southerly exposure grown to a beautifully picturesque countryside at altitudes between one and three hundred metres. Glera grapes are normally harvested throughout the second half of September off fully mature vines planted to limestone clay soils. Fruit is passed through a gentle press into fermenters for inoculation to cultured yeasts and a tightly temperature controlled vinification. Upon completion, Marca Oro is matured for three months before botttling and a further spell of bottle ageing. Alcohol 11.0%
