Riesling Mount Barker Western Australia
West Cape Howe make wines that are very much in the spirit of West Australia's sensual new world style, crafted with minimal intervention, allowing the distinctive eloquence of regionality and fruit to speak for itself. Grapes are sourced from the elite Block 6 of the estate Langton Vineyard at Mount Barker, a region that's quickly gaining international renown for the quality of Riesling. A tightly wound wine, with juicy lime fruit characters over a sound, judiciously balanced, revitalizing chalky acid structure.
The West Cape Howe team all share great passion for the Great Southern style of wines, they dedicate many months leading up to vintage, visiting and monitoring vineyards, ensuring that only the finest parcels of fruit are considered. Grapes are harvested over the course of a fortnight, off the salubrious Block 6 through multiple picks, crushed and pressed into controlled fermenters during the cool of night, only the lowest extraction, low phenolic free runs are included. Juices are inoculated by neutral strains of yeast and vinified at cool temperatures to maximise aromaticness. Upon completion, the very best parcels are assembled into a profound expression of Mount Barker Riesling.
Light straw, green hue. Citrus and lime characters with a hint of sherbet to the bouquet. Zesty lime and citrus flavours on the palate, refreshed by well balanced natural acidity. A generously proportioned Riesling, crisp with an excellent length of fruit all the way to a clean finish. A match to fine charcouterie and the freshest fish.
