Refreshed after nightfall by the invigorating maritime winds off Bass Strait and Port Phillip Bay, it's a place of exceptional winegrowing. Populated by ten unique Burgundy clones, this very special block of vine grew the only Pinot Noir ever to claim our nation's highest accolade for great red wines, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. The property continues to yield limited releases of outstanding vintages, it's a place of exacting viticulture and uncompromising pursuit of excellence, cherished by cognoscenti and.. Xavier Bizot can make wine anywhere he pleases, he is a Bollinger and grew up amongst the Vignobles Superieurs of Champagne. Bizot has chosen to make wine alongside Brian Croser's family, from grapes harvested off three magnificent sites, on two paradoxically varied terrains. Planted to the salubrious Terra rosa soils atop an invaluable archeological dig at Wrattonbully, rich with the undisturbed fossils of ancient Cenozoic sea animals, Crayeres Vineyard was established right across the road from Tapanappa's illustrious Whalebone. The weather here is astonishingly similar to Bordeaux and makes an awesome Cabernet Franc. Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser are also.. The twin tales of terre a terre»

The structure, style and superb quality of Warre's Ports are defined by its vineyards. The mainstay of Warre's Ports is provided by three great estates, Quinta da Cavadinha, Quinta do Retiro Antigo and Quinta da Telhada. The latter was acquired by Warre's in 2006 and this riverside property now makes a significant contribution. Further to these, Warre's are able to draw on the production of a collection of other sites with long associations. Quinta do Retiro Antigo is one of the finest vineyards in Rio Torto. A historical landmark with spectacular 18th century stone terraces, most of which grow just one row. These ancient vines produce superb grapes that perfectly complement fruit from Cavadinha.
Inky and concentrated, an opaque colour given by the famous old vines of Retiro Antigo. This concentration combines perfectly with the freshness imparted by wines from the higher lying Cavadinha vineyards to produce lovely fresh flavours of blackberry fruit. A wine of enormous elegance, combining vibrant lifted fruit with power and long lasting flavours. Vintage 2007 is much enhanced by the exuberance of Telhada Touriga Franca grapes.
