Riesling Clare Valley South Australia
Hermann Paul Leopold Buring was born in 1876, his legacy is an enduring tradition of Australia's most consistent vintages of delicious white wine. The design at the Leo Buring wineworks is always to make the finest Riesling in the country, engaging wines which can offer a profound depth of flavour, combined with elegance, balance and finesse. Leo Buring is endowed with stonefruit and mineral characters kept vital by cleansing lime acids, simply a splendid rendering of Clare Valley Riesling at its best.
Since the purchase of Chateau Leonay in 1945, Leo Buring has built an unparalleled reputation for quality Riesling production in Valley Clare. In 2002 the estate returned to its roots, making only Riesling. Of all the grape varietals Riesling is the one that is most expressive of regionality. Minute changes in soil, climate and aspect are directly reflected in theavours found in the final wine. The team at Leo Buring work closely with the viticulturists to identify the best vineyards, the choicest blocks and the best rows within each. Stable temperatures and cool nights up to harvest permit the complex characters to develop. Buring is bottled immediately after completion to capture and retain maximum freshness.
Pale straw colour, light golden hues. A twist of lime on the bouquet, florals and orange blossom, lemons and bath crystal with a hint of spice. On the palate comes a rich round wine with flavours of sweet citrus and apple, lemon oils and honey, melons and musk. Appealingly dry yet vigorously fruit driven, it lingers at the close on a note of floral citrus and crisp mineral.
