The family Hentschke have been Barossa farming since 1842, they know from good soils and settle on nothing but the finest land. Grown to the frigid climes of Central Otago, the vines at Prophet's Rock were established 1999 to the most auspicious sites in the nether regions around the ancient goldfields of Bendigo Creek. Challenging aspects with breathtaking views of Cromwell Basin and Pisa Ranges, these are places defined by their fortuitous soils and favourable climes, tiny parcels of vine capable of just a few hundred cases each vintage, picked for their confluence of growing conditions and husbanded by a devout cadre. The hills surrounding Adelaide were planted to some of South Australia's very first vineyards in the 1800s. Most of these have since disappeared, but the cool climate and fertile slopes of the Adelaide Hills now provide the idyllic growing conditions for truly world class Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit is grown on Hewitson's own vineyard between Hahndorf and Mount Barker. LuLu articulates a perfect harmony, the affinity that stands between Sauvignon Blanc and the terroir of Adelaide Hills, displaying fresh, varietal characters and crisp acidity.

Hewitson is dedicated to producing traditionally crafted, fully expressive wines from the best vineyards. Isolating the right varietals on the right site within the most appropriate terroir is the mission. Hewitson has built a formidable stable of individually crafted wines. Proudly single vineyard, LuLu speaks of the very special environment which defines Adelaide Hills as a premier viticultural precinct. Located in the highest reaches, looking out across Mount Lofty Ranges, the property is ideally situated by virtue of its elevation and cool climate. Grapes are picked in immaculate condition. After a cool fermentation, the wine is naturally settled before cold filtration and bottling, barely three months after harvest.
