Discovered by Dr Bertel Sundstrup in 1987, after a long search for the perfect site, the amphitheatre known as Dalrymple is a mere twelve hectares of sun drenched bucolic idyll, at the very heart of superior viticulture on the beauteous Apple Isle. Forest Hill Vineyard is planted very close to Mt Barker, its unique topography, deep gravel soils and proximity to the Southern Ocean assures mild summers with cooling southerly breezes. Identified in the 1970s by gentleman James Halliday as the most outstanding Riesling of the Australian west, Block 1 is a sacred old parcel, one of the first ever planted in Great Southern. Wild yeast fermented for richness and complexity, vibrant and crisp with juicy natural acidity, Block 1 sings of its Mount Barker provenance, a long, lingering, flinty finish in a graceful, old vines, Riesling way.
