Tokay Muscadelle Rutherglen Victoria
Campbell's Topaque is the most wickedly intense, lusciously rich elixer, laden with candied peel flavours, honeycombed fruit and amber complexities. Painstakingly crafted to the old world Solera system, a bespoke tradition of fractional blending and elevage, achieving the most indulgent concentration of flavour through a laborious racking of barrels as the angels take their share. At its peak of development upon release, savour Topaque as a refined accompaniment to consomme or extravagantly dressed turkey.
Vinified from parcels of old vine Muscadelle grapes, we can forgive Campbell for cheekily labelling it Liquid Gold, as their forebears were gold miners. Fashioned to be an eternally fresh, distinctly fruit forward style of fortified, without being cloying or gratuitously sweet. Campbell's long history of fortifieds have earned Rutherglen the prestige of a world class winegrowing appellation. Campbells remain the only winery anywhere in the world to win gold medals for both table and fortified wines at the prestigious London International. The base wine of the Topaque blend dates back to the 1950s, only small amounts are withdrawn from the Solera, ensuring the highest quality and continuity of style.
Deep golden hues. Rich aromas of exotic tea leaves, toffeed characters, honey and citrus notes. Intense and mouthfilling palate, malt and toffee combine with rancio characters, a wine of power and complexity with a luscious yet clean finish. A conversation starter when served as aperitiff, the accompaniement of choice to sticky date pudding or Arabica coffee and the finest chocolate.
